Take a look at couple of late season races by Jake Laminack. The first two columns are 3000 Meters, the 3rd and 4th columns are the 1500 at the OC and then Clack.

The striking feature is that the relative difference is small between the 15 and the early stages of the 3. He ran a 2:06 800meters during the middle of the season, making his split around 63. This should tell us that either his 3000 meter pacing is at a high level or his 1500 pace training isn't high enough.
